St. Paul’s First Lutheran North Hollywood Church

We are located a few blocks from the Red Line, Orange Line, and the 170 and 101 freeways. Our membership is from all over the San Fernando Valley.  Members come from Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Sunland, North Hills, Chatsworth, Northridge, Reseda, Tarzana, Van Nuys, Panorama City, San Fernando, Valley Glen, Encino, Canoga Park, Glendale, Valley Village, Burbank, Valencia and Granada Hills.   The North Hollywood Amelia Earhart Regional Library and the North Hollywood East Valley YMCA are right across the street.
Our congregation was started in the mid 1920s by Pastor Henry Schmidt. Our first church building was a simple white stucco building.  It was located where the present church now stands.  Following World War II, North Hollywood began a radical transformation and St. Paul’s changed with it. Under the guidance of Pastor Alvin Wagner (whom our Wagner Hall is named after), St. Paul’s grew in membership.

Our North Hollywood school was added in 1946 and the present Gothic style church was built in 1954.  In the 1950’s through the 1980’s we saw significant growth in our enrollment for our North Hollywood church and school missions.   In the 1990’s, we opened our North Hollywood preschool and added service groups such as the Sunbeams.  Today ,we continue our outreach by expanding through the use of internet tools such as this website and Facebook.  If you are searching for a new Church home, we encourage you to stop by.

Throughout the years, St. Paul’s First Lutheran North Hollywood Church has remained committed to the mission that Jesus gave to his followers, “…Go and make disciples of all nations…teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…” (Matthew 28:19-20) Worship with us and see if our community would be right for you.
